Rick Ehlert is the principal engineer and sole owner of SSE LLC.  Rick has made it his priority over the past 29 plus years as a professional engineer to understand how structures work, and how to apply this knowledge on every project.  He is registered as a professional civil engineer in Colorado, New Mexico, and California.

As the son of a building contractor, Rick began his life in the construction industry at the early age of 7, working and learning how things are built.  He went on to learn the technical side of engineering at Montana State University, where he obtained a B.S. in Civil Engineering, and later, an M.S. in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis.  He considers himself very fortunate to have worked with a variety of consultants on challenging projects in California, New Mexico, Colorado, Hawaii, Montana, Virginia, Michigan, the Marshall Islands, and the South Pole.  He has especially appreciated working directly with a wide diversity of clients, and being a part of their goal fulfillment. Rick values education and embraces the opportunity to educate students and clients on aspects of structural engineering.  As a means of maintaining his own education, Rick is involved with the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES).  Through his involvement on the Civil exam committee of this organization, Rick has been able to directly communicate, share, and learn aspects of structural engineering with fellow engineers from around the United States.

But work without life would be empty and meaningless.  Rick cherishes the partnership with his wife Teresa.  They share common interests of traveling and meeting people from other countries, helping those less fortunate, and experiencing the great outdoors of Colorado. They especially enjoy daughters Megan and Abby, son-in-laws Greg and Nate, and grand-daughters Macy and Marley.
